Let’s Talk About ACR Accreditation
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has a process to accredit facilities and imaging centers in order to hold them to the highest standards of quality. Since 1987, they have accredited for than 35,000 facilities.
So what does this mean?
The ACR awards facilities their accreditation for achieving high practice standards after having their practice peer-reviewed. The evaluations are conducted by board certified radiologists and physicists who are experts in their field.
There are numerous modalities that a center can be accredited in:
- Breast Ultrasound
- CT
- MRI
- Mammography
- Nuclear Medicine
- PET
- Stereotactic breast biopsy
- Ultrasound
- Radiation Oncology
Why choose an ACR accredited facility?
When you go to a center that carries one or more of the accreditations listed above, you can be sure that they have gone through a rigorous testing process in order to meet the highest national standards, the personnel are well qualified, and the equipment is appropriate for the tests and treatments you’ll be receiving.
Carlsbad Open MRI is proud to say that we passed our MRI accreditation on the first try.
Now is the time when many centers are renewing their accreditations, so make sure to check to see if your center is on the list.
